Meet the Girl
Hello World… my name is Brianna or “Strong One”
I am of Irish blood, raised in the outskirts of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
I attempt to gain strength by sunlight, and the honest truth of the world.
I write, searching the world for answers, and sharing my findings in hope of inspiring others.
My purpose is to gain an understanding of the world through my experience, to share my findings, and philosophy. In other words I am a stubborn wanderer, searching with guidance from my mantra, Om Namah Shivaya.
I bow to Shiva, the inner self.
This is a reflection for the self, by the self, and with intention of strengthening the soul.
My goal is to….
Let go. Since I was a little girl I was driven to always be the image of perfection; reserved, skinny, socially acceptable, the perfect daughter, loved by all.
But when I finally messed up, stepped outside the image that others perceived me to be, I found the ones I thought loved me no longer wanted me in their life; in the process I realized I had never really discovered my inner self.
For a long time I was broken, weak, distraught. But I have finally build myself from the ground up and in the process I have awakened my self to the path of self discovery.
Now its time for me to let go……let go of my past..the anger…the sadness..all of it…and just keep moving forward ( or in other words from my favorite movie, Finding Nemo; Dory Philosophy 101, “Just keep swimming…swimming..swimming.”)
Some of my dreams are to.....
Travel as if the world is my home. We have one life. Just one. I want to spend it seeing all that’s possible to see.
I want to find God, or the higher power in this universe. Are you there God? It’s me Brianna and I’m learning your wisdom one step at a time.
I dream to love completely.
But I’m learning each day that love is by far the most beautiful thing a human being can receive.
As selfish as this sounds, I love to be loved, and to love in return. Isn't that what makes the world go round? Aren't we all just a bunch of emotional creatures searching day by day for some sort of deeper connection?
My favorite things tend to be…
spirituality...libraries…the smell of books…promise rings…bears…deeply vulnerable conversations…toasted almond tea..activism...beards...the novel Gone With the Wind …journals…the smell of rain...the moon...arguing…social justice...knowledge…over sized sweaters…intersectionality...meaningful kisses...stars...the smell of paint...philosophical discussions...coffee..self reflection..feminism...
I often spend my time… with my nose in a book. Reading has always been a huge part of my life, and at times it was my life. As a kid it was sort of an escape, or at least my voyage to a better world then the one I was living in. I would go to bed an hour early every night just so I could read…and at school if I ever had even a minute to spare...you could find me reading. But right now in my life I find I must balance reading with all the other stuff I love to do in life. I also have a passion for creating art-its my one true form of expression. I love to create something that I can share to the world, even if it is lost in translation. But these past few years I have also been exploring my role as an ally to social justice issues and exploring my role as an activist.
