"You cannot find peace by avoiding life."
-Virginia Wolf
Am I able to say, 'Today's a Virginia Wolf kinda day', and have it make sense?
Today marks a beginning for me; to what end I do not know. Nor shall I ever know until it is far into the past.
I've been in a sort of slumber recently. No, that's not right really, the truth is I have been successfully avoiding life--past, present and future.
Please tell me I am not the only one who finds they are slugging themselves around, neither happy or content, just moving quietly without a sound.
To my surprise, I woke up this morning, and did not find myself having to sing along to the song Breathe by Anna Nalick just to get out of bed, c'mon you know the song...
'So cradle your head in your hands, and breathe, just breathe, whoa breathe, just breathe.'

Instead my loss of energy was replaced with optimism, and a lively spirit that no circumstance could trample. I just felt more alive, and in complete awe of just how beautiful the world truly is.
Sometimes I forget to focus on the truth of our precious existence because I get so caught up in the mediocre things of life. But then I have moments like today where I am able to just look at the world clearly and think to myself, Oh yea I forgot how SPECTACULAR the world is.
So the question of the day is, what can we do to have this mind set all the time, and not just once in a blue moon? What are your thoughts?
I have discovered three ways that help my emotional thinking onto the right path, and if you have the time see if these techniques will help you too.
1. Re-Commit to the things MOST important in your life
With Relationships
What are the relationships in your life that you are completely committed to maintaining and progressing? If you aren't interested in continuing a relationship, then why is it you are no longer interested, will it truly be beneficial to you?
Remember, with whatever relationship you take on, there should always be the expectation to receive what you put into it.
No Bullshit.
Are you happy with those surrounding your environment?
Personally I need to remember to focus my energy into the relationships I can not imagine living without. I want to COMMIT to those I love most. So when your given the opportunity, love those in your life endlessly, appreciate their presence in your life, and let go of all the negative so you can enjoy the moments you have with them.
With Your Mind/Soul
What kind of person do you want to be? What progress have you made in discovering and developing your beliefs? Are you happy with who you are?
If you are anything like me, then you analyse every little thought and idea you find your mind can imagine....you'll often find yourself awake at night thinking of all the things that's possible to think about; congratulations your a philosopher at heart, always trying to find the greater answers in life.
If you'r not like that, lucky you, because I can honestly attest to the fact you get better nights of rest then the rest of us. But its still nice to think of the bigger questions in life.
For instance, is it worse to fail at something or never attempt it in the first place?
Can freedom every truly be obtained?
(And my favorite) Is human nature defined by society or is it something never changing from the creation of time?
If your find yourself lured by these questions then get your booty up, run down to your local book store, and grab a copy of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius; he will take you to places your mind could have never imagined on its own.

With your Future
Ooooh this is a sensitive one for me to think of. Right now I am at that nervously exciting point in my life where college is in my near sight, even close enough to reach out, and go running with.
But I feel like no matter what age, no matter what point we are in our life, the future has always been the kind of thing to get our heart racing, make our palms sweaty, and create a shortness of breath.
Lets make a promise to change this, lets go running with our future and go running like a wild child.
Lets shout out the universe,' Hey I am ready NOW for all you have to offer!'

Accepting our future, and imagining it will help us all to release all that ambivalence.
Its time to accept the "radical" idea of turning our dreams into action.
Together, lets commit, to facing our fears, procrastination, and resistance to our future.
Comment below on the first steps you took to commit to your future.
Today I took the first steps towards commitment by applying to taking a summer course through Colorado College, at first fear drove me to believe it was too far out of reach, but then something inside me said If its so far out of reach then whats the harm in trying?
So here goes nothing, wish me luck. I've got $3,500 to raise, two weeks of anticipation to know if I have even been accepted, and I must cope with the idea of doing this completely on my own. If you are interested in donating to my summer session there is a link on the right hand side of the page, click on it, then you will be taken to my gofundme page, any help is much appreciated!
2. Take time each day to list create a list of things your thankful for, keep a journal of it, write in it each and every day
Today I find myself thankful for ......memory foam pillows, instantly warm showers in the cold mornings, french vanilla flavored coffee, the fact that I am living in a dream world where I am perfectly capable of checking out four books at a time, and that right now YOU are reading my words this very instant and valuing it. Thank you, my soul honors yours.
3. Go on a hike, right now...just GO

I am fortunate to live in a home where I can take a five minute walk, and find myself in Garden of the Gods. I strongly encourage you to just get out of your little box that is everyday life, go out to clear your head, and remind yourself that there is more out there then you could ever imagine.
Last thoughts....................
"Everything changes when you start to emit your own frequency rather than absorbing the frequencies around you, when you start imprinting your intent on the universe rather than receiving an imprint from existence."
